Tube Bending

Although tube bending can be done through several different methods, the cold bending technique is the method of choice for PT Mitra Baja Persada. The cold tube bending technique uses machinery that applies a direct force on the pipe, which allows the pipe to conform to the shape and contours of the die. Similar to plate bending, the force applied to the pipe will determine the angle or the diameter of the end product. MBP’s machinery is capable of handling almost any thickness of steel commonly found on the market today.

This profile rolling machine can perform tube bending for pipe, angle steel, flat bar, IWF, H-beam, T-beam, or UNP. This tube bending machine has a maximum capacity of 12” for pipe. The maximum capacity for IWF is 700, the Flat Bar is 150, and the H-beam is 200.

Tube bending is a process we use to help construct many different projects from normal piping equipment for sewer systems to tubes used to construct buildings. These are 8" pipes that will be bent for the construction of a new building for the Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Ujung Pandang, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. PT. Mitra Baja Persada is currently the only company in Indonesia offering tube bending services for 8" pipes.

Sheet Metal Fabrication

Indonesia's PT. Mitra Baja Persada’s sheet metal fabrication services are selected by clients looking to create water tanks, food-grade or non-food-grade mixers, silos, or other large scale steel objects. To fabricate these sorts of projects, we first prepare the metal sheets by accurately welding and cutting each according to your desired dimensions. The sheet metal is then cut using a Plasma Cutting Machine or Flame Cutting Machine depending on the type of the material we are working with. We then run the precisely measured sheet metal through a plate rolling machine.

The plate rolling machine forces the flat sheet to become a curved one. Operators are standing by the machine adjusting the force applied to the metal sheet to get the diameter of the now curved metal to perfectly meet your specification. The whole sheet metal fabrication process usually requires the sheet metal to run through the rolling machine 3 – 10 times depending on the thickness of the plate and the diameter required.

Once we got the required diameter, the next step is to weld both ends of the sheet metal together. This will create the desired cylinder shape. To complete the sheet metal fabrication process, any rough edges will then be smoothed out with a grinding machine.

For sheet metal fabrication projects, such as the one described above, our plate rolling machine comes into play. This particular machine has a maximum capacity to roll sheet metal up to 3000mm wide and 35mm thick.

Palm Oil Sterilizer



This sheet metal fabrication project was given to MBP by PT. Hardaya Inti Plantation. They were seeking a credible company in Indonesia to handle the plate rolling and metal fabrication work for two palm oil sterilizer tunnels. Once completed, the cylinders were sent to Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, where they stand today.
